Welcome to MI In Health Care Online
Medical
and allied health practitioners are often frustrated by low rates of
engagement, non-adherence to treatment or self-management
recommendations and attrition from
treatment or self-management programs. In an attempt to address
these problems, Motivational Interviewing is currently
being successfully utilized in a number of healthcare settings
including diabetes
management, exercise adherence, pain management, cardiac rehabilitation
and
weight loss. Participants will become familiar with the underpinning
philosophy and the core clinical skills and strategies utilised in
Motivational Interviewing in health care settings in order to
maximize the therapeutic opportunity available in their interactions
with their
patients. This workshop is suitable for any allied health or medical
practitioner working with patients who struggle with health
behaviour change.
